Senior Soul Care is a Christian ministry called to enhance the spiritual lives of senior citizens wherever they are along life’s path. Whether they are living in assisted living, skilled nursing, memory care, long-term care communities, or still in their own homes, Senior Soul Care encourages aging saints with the Biblically inspired attitude of “God isn’t finished with you yet!”
Even though they may have slowed down physically and memory may be fading to varied degrees, seniors still have so much to contribute to the body of Christ. As the apostle Paul writes, “although the outer man is decaying, the inner man is renewed daily” (2 Cor. 4:16). Senior Soul Care values the lives of seniors and exhorts them to continue to live fruitful lives throughout every life stage. The ministry recognizes seniors for the Godly wisdom and vision they can pass along to younger generations.
As seniors and their families navigate the challenges of the aging process, this journey often leads to a transition into an entirely new living environment be it assisted living, skilled nursing, or a memory care community. Such a move can involve the loss of the senior’s home, their home town, and in so many cases their home church that they have been attending for decades. Their church has been their spiritual home and social center of their lives. A related major consequence of no longer being able to attend their home church is the loss of their relationship with their pastor. These losses can leave a senior loved one feeling lost, depressed, and fearful about what their future holds.
Senior Soul Care ministers to build new consistent and loving pastoral relationships with seniors through the preaching/teaching of God’s Word, one-on-one spiritual counseling, and pastoral outreach and support to the families of seniors who have transitioned into senior communities.
Elevating Spiritual Care to A New Level
The vast majority of senior communities in the U.S. provide excellent care for seniors facing every life stage. Physical/Medical and Cognitive Care protocols are well established and advancement continues in these areas as new research surfaces. However, it is too often that spiritual care does not receive a strong enough priority emphasis in senior communities. Many studies document the healthcare value of having a vibrant faith in God. Those with strong faith in God who face significant health challenges experience better recuperative outcomes from illness and surgery.
A key mission of the Senior Soul Care ministry is to work in concert with senior communities and families of senior residents to elevate the priority of spiritual care to that of physical/medical and cognitive care. For the vast majority of seniors, their spiritual life has been the driving force of their lives. Supported by widely accepted research, Senior Soul Care endeavors to enhance the spiritual walk seniors experience, leading to a happier, more peaceful life, enriched with a renewed awareness of God’s blessings in their lives.
For seniors, having a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ gives meaning and purpose to their lives. Their spirituality has significant impact on how well they cope with the aging process and the various life stages they will move through. Senior Soul Care comes alongside seniors to help them experience “the peace that surpasses all understanding” (Philippians 4:7), replacing fear of what the future holds with hope and confidence in their approaching forever heavenly home. It is also a priority of Senior Soul Care to minister to seniors who have not yet made a decision for Christ. Letting them know that God’s grace and forgiveness are available to them, thus assuring them of their eternal resting place in Heaven.

From Senior Soul Care Founder and President, Mark Langness:
“From my early youth, I have always had a special heart for senior citizens. I take great joy in recognizing the accomplishments of these wonderful people. Their life stories and the wisdom they have shared have framed my spiritual growth in Christ. Over the course of my 41 year walk as a Christian, my journey has led me to minister the Gospel of Christ at many churches as a Sunday School Teacher to teens thru adults, Director of Men’s Ministry, Mentor, Church Board Member, and Preacher. My Lord now leads me to full time ministry in service to seniors where I can encourage and exhort them as forever valued members of the body of Christ.”
